Choosing and Ordering a Memorial
Taking into consideration the rules and regulations of a particular cemetery or graveyard, the memorial style (headstone, book, tablet or kerbset), type of stone, font for the lettering and any additional carving or design needs to be decided and finally the actual inscription. If you see a memorial you like in a local cemetery, we are very willing to inspect and reproduce it for you.
With new memorial work, we prefer to discuss your requirements at one of our offices, where we can show samples of stone and lettering. We would then provide a full estimate of all memorial costs and once approved, proceed with gaining permission for the memorial from the cemetery or churchyard regulatory body. Once this has been obtained, we would order the blank stone which, depending on colour and finish, may take up to 10 weeks to arrive. During this time we would provide proof drawings of the inscription where appropriate and once the stone has been received, complete the inscription and fix, as soon as weather and ground conditions permit.
This whole process can take up to 12 to 14 weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of the memorial. With this in mind it is advisable to commence the memorial ordering process well ahead of a particular date or occasion for completion. Work to existing memorials will take much less time to complete.
